ABOUT US
The Strategic Alliance for Healthy Food and Activity Environments is a coalition of nutrition and physical activity advocates in California. The Strategic Alliance is shifting the debate on nutrition and physical activity away from a primary focus on personal responsibility and individual choice to one that examines corporate and government practices and the role of the environment in shaping eating and activity behaviors.
Strategic Alliance Structure
Prevention Institute provides core staffing to the Strategic Alliance, including coordination of strategy development, outreach, training, media and research.
The Steering Committee of the Strategic Alliance establishes the overall program & campaign directions for the Alliance. The Steering Committee is currently comprised of 14 organizations: California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness Program (CANFit), California Center for Public Health Advocacy, California Food Policy Advocates, California Pan-Ethnic Health Network, California Park & Recreation Society, California Project LEAN, California WIC Association, Child Care Food Program Roundtable, Latino Health Access, Partnership for the Public's Health, Prevention Institute, Samuels & Associates, PolicyLink and Public Health Law and Policy.
The Strategic Alliance has a strong commitment to ensuring its members reflects the diversity of California and seeks to build an active membership and form partnerships with diverse organizations and individuals throughout California that support the general principles of the Strategic Alliance. Strategic Alliance Funding
The Strategic Alliance is funded by The California Endowment. The Endowment makes grants to organizations and institutions that directly benefit the health and well being of the people of California.
