ENACT is a hands-on assessment and planning tool for organizations, coalitions, and communities interested in improving their food and physical activity environments. ENACT contains a menu of concrete strategies that promote healthy eating and active living within each of its seven environments. These strategies can be used to assess community environments and to identify priority strategies. The tool can also be used to evaluate past and current efforts and offer new priorities for the future.
For maximum effectiveness, we encourage you to use ENACT with a broad range of partners, from community residents to businesses, from teachers to students, from government officials to healthcare professionals.
You can now create a free user account that allows you and your organization or coalition to rank your priorities (high, medium, low) and current status (1-5) on any or all of the ENACT strategies and save this data for future reference. You can update your priorities and status at any time.

Conducting an ENACT Assessment
Once you've signed in, and are ready to begin the assessment, follow these 6 easy steps.
1. Click "Track Your Strategies" to begin.
2. Select an environment (Childcare, Schools, etc.) from the left navigation bar. This will bring you to the menu of strategies for that environment.
3. Review the Menu of Strategies for that Environment; for each of the strategies listed:
- Assess Your Current Status: Type 1-5 in the right- hand boxes based on a qualitative impression of how much infrastructure/political will is already in place (see the key on the far right of the screen).
- Prioritize Each of the Listed Strategies: type H, M or L into the left- hand boxes to reflect your organization's priorities (high, medium or low priority).
- Strengthen your overall nutrition and physical activity foundation by prioritizing as "high" those activities that are not highly developed (a current status of 1-2)
- Build on your successes by prioritizing as "high" those activities that could be developed even further (a current status of 3-4)
4. Save it! In the lower right corner, hit SAVE to save your data.
5. Review your aggregated data by clicking "Reports" on the bottom of the page.
6. Move on to another environment by clicking "Continue".
Hit the browser's back button to return to the previous page.
